Alices Adventures in Wonderland Review - A Quick Review

"A Alices Adventures in Wonderland" is the first book of the Aladdin and Jasmine series. I'm not going to lie to you, I had this book on my Kindle for a while and gave it a miss until recently when I found a copy at a Goodreads review site. Why you ask? Because I have no idea what the plot is, or who is the main character, and I'm not sure that the whole "is such a big deal" factor is convincing enough for me to read it. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of the Harry Potter series either, so this book may appeal less to me than some of the others. Anyway, I gave the book another chance after reading a few reviews, and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised.

The story starts with Aida and Jafar, two villains from the popular Disney film, Aladdin. While she is performing a spell that will make anyone she touches fall in love with her, Jafar sneaks in and steals Aida's heart. With the help of some loyal henchmen (including two women who want to kill Aida), Jafar gets away with Aida and begins his plan to murder her innocent son, Jafar. However, Aida comes to the rescue of Jafar and defeats him... but not before he takes Aida's magic magical powers, turning her human form into a demon.

This was a very enjoyable book. The characters were interesting and unique, and there were a lot of twists throughout the book that kept the reader wondering how things would end for the main characters. One of my favorite scenes was when Aida realizes that Jafar is actually a prince, and the subsequent romance between Jafar and Aida added even more tension to the story.

One of the reasons why I enjoyed this book so much is because it contains a lot of fantasy elements, especially in the part involving Jafar. I'm a big fan of stories with dragons and the like, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. In fact, the way in which the plot of the novel unravels and grows is thrilling to read about. It also has a lot of twists and turns, which kept me on the edge of my seat and waiting for the next twist.

The book ended with a cliff hanger, and I was expecting a full-blown adventure. Well, it wasn't that kind of book at all. The cliff hanger was only brief, and after reading the last few sentences, I felt like I had missed something really important. Then, just when I thought I might have finished, the book's forward progression came to an abrupt halt, and I had to go back and start reading the whole thing again. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. However, the whole book felt disjointed, and sometimes the reader just doesn't know where to go or what to do next.

Overall, this was a fun, light-hearted book about a girl's search for her lost friend and her thoughts about the mystery of Wonderland. It was written in a pleasant, casual tone, which didn't make it too exciting to read, but it did keep the reader entertained. Recommended for children and adults alike, this one should be picked up by those who like fantasy fiction and who like to read in an easy-going, happy tone. For those who don't, however, I recommend looking elsewhere.
